# Every coverage line, explained in plain English.

No buried riders, no decoder ring. Each line below shows what triggers it, one example that is covered and one that is not. Flip to policy terms whenever you want the formal wording.

## What cyber insurance is, what it covers, what it does not

The short version, in plain English. The issued policy always has the final word.

### What it is

Cyber insurance pays covered financial losses from online crime, under a policy that a carrier issues. Every payment is subject to the terms of that policy.

Syba adds the 24/7 cyber desk. When something goes wrong, the desk runs the response, so you do not work it out alone.

Carriers pay covered claims. Syba runs the response. A licensed broker places the policy.

### What it covers

Each coverage line has its own page, with a covered example and one that is not.

- [Identity theft and recovery](https://sybainsurance.com/coverage/identity-theft-recovery)

If your identity is stolen, the team helps you recover it and covered losses are handled under the policy.
- [Cyber ransomware and extortion](https://sybainsurance.com/coverage/cyber-extortion-ransom)

If ransomware locks your devices or someone extorts you over a cyber event, the policy responds.
- [Online fraud and cyber crime](https://sybainsurance.com/coverage/online-fraud)

If money is stolen from you through online fraud or another cyber crime, this is the line that responds.
- [Cyber bullying and counseling](https://sybainsurance.com/coverage/cyberbullying)

If someone in the household is targeted by cyberbullying, counseling support is part of the cover.
- [Cyber breach events and data recovery](https://sybainsurance.com/coverage/device-data-recovery)

If a cyber breach event hits your household, the policy covers the response and recovering your data.
- [Cyber security and privacy liability](https://sybainsurance.com/coverage/legal-concierge-response)

If a cyber event in your household creates a privacy or security liability claim against you, the policy responds.
- [Online reputation and data broker deletion](https://sybainsurance.com/coverage/reputation)

Your online reputation is scored and monitored, and deletion requests go out to data brokers holding your records.

### What it does not cover

Every policy has limits. These are the common ones, and each coverage line shows its own example.

- Losses you authorized yourself

A payment or purchase you approved yourself is generally not a covered loss.
- Anything the policy excludes

The issued policy lists its exclusions. Read them before you buy.
- Anything before your cover starts

A loss that began before your cover started is not covered.

#### Examples from each coverage line

- An identity theft event that began before your coverage started.

  Identity theft and recovery
- An extortion threat with no underlying cyber event behind it.

  Cyber ransomware and extortion
- A purchase you authorized yourself and later disputed with the merchant.

  Online fraud and cyber crime
- Disagreements between household members that involve no outside party.

  Cyber bullying and counseling
- A hard drive that fails on its own, with no cyber event involved.

Cyber breach events and data recovery
- A liability claim that does not arise from a cyber security or privacy event.

  Cyber security and privacy liability
- Removing truthful press coverage or public court records.

Online reputation and data broker deletion

## How do claims work?

Your household

1. You report it once. Tell your concierge what happened, in your own words.
2. A person takes ownership. Your concierge reviews the claim personally and stays with it to the end.
3. The evidence is gathered for you. Screenshots, statements and documents, collected by your concierge rather than by you.
4. It goes to the carrier. Where your cover responds, the claim is filed through licensed broker placement.
5. It closes in writing. The claim ends with a written record of what happened and what was decided.

Your written record

Coverage is subject to the terms of your policy.

## How this compares

Household cyber insurance is no longer a niche. The closest product to Personal Guard, Cyberboxx Home from BOXX Insurance, writes a household policy that affirmatively covers online fraud, AI-enabled scams and deepfake impersonation, identity theft and recovery, cyber extortion, home title fraud and cyberbullying, with Equifax identity monitoring and a 24/7 incident team bundled in. It is a serious product, and it is the right comparison to hold us against.

Most households that carry any cyber protection at all carry less than that: an identity-theft rider attached to a homeowners policy. A typical rider reimburses the expense of restoring your identity after a theft has already happened. It responds to a single peril, after the fact, and it includes no one who watches, answers or acts for your household before the loss.

The most common choice is still no protection at all. When something goes wrong, the loss lands where it falls. Deloitte Private surveyed family offices worldwide for its Family Office Cybersecurity Report 2024 and found 57% of those in North America had been hit by a cyberattack in the last 12 to 24 months, 93% of those attacks arriving as phishing, and a third of the victims left with financial or operational damage.

Personal Guard starts from the same conviction that household cyber risk deserves a real policy, then adds the part we believe matters most: an active layer. Always-on monitoring that tests your internet connection and router, checks your email addresses against known breaches, and shows where your username is used on social sites. A 24/7 concierge, staffed from two hubs covering the US and Europe, that owns an incident end to end. And up to $5M in layered capacity underwritten by Tokio Marine HCC and Chubb, placed through licensed brokers. Coverage responds to what has already happened. The active layer works on what has not happened yet.

## Questions buyers actually ask

Who underwrites the coverage?

Insurance coverage is provided by A-rated carriers, with capacity from Tokio Marine HCC - Cyber & Professional Lines Group and Chubb. Policies are placed through Syba’s licensed insurance brokers (EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants in the United States). Coverage, limits and availability vary by jurisdiction and are subject to the terms of the issued policy.

What is not covered?

Every line above shows a not covered example next to its covered one, so the boundaries are visible before you buy. The final word always belongs to the issued policy, never to a marketing page.

Where is Personal Guard available?

In the United States and the European Union, through the tiers shown above for your region. Coverage, limits and availability vary by jurisdiction and are subject to the terms of the issued policy.

How do claims work?

Your concierge team owns the claim from first report to resolution. You file once, a real person takes it from there, and you follow the status from your dashboard.

Which tier do I need?

It depends on who you are protecting. Compare the tiers above, see full plan details on the pricing page, or start a quote and get a recommendation based on your household.

Does my security score change my price?

No. Your scan score is security context, nothing more. It never sets your price, your tier or your eligibility.
