# The 60-second scam check

Eight questions about the calls, texts and visits that trick people. Answer yes or no. You get a score and three steps to take.

Free. Nothing to sign up for. We do not ask for your name or email.

## What the check covers.

Each question is about a trick that real people fell for. There is no wrong way to answer. The score just shows where to start.

- ### A family code word

Scammers can copy a voice. A code word shows it is really family.
- ### A call from a grandchild in trouble

Scammers pretend to be a loved one in trouble. The voice may sound just like them.
- ### Calling back on a number you know

Scammers pretend to be a bank or an office. Your own number is the safe way back.
- ### A call to move your money

A real bank will not ask you to move your money to keep it safe.
- ### Gift cards

No real bill, fine or prize is paid with gift cards.
- ### A fake computer problem

Tech support scams start this way. Once they are in, they can see your bank.
- ### A courier at your door

The FBI has warned about couriers who collect cash and gold from victims.
- ### A Bitcoin machine

The FBI warns about scams that use crypto machines in stores.
